DROWNING in         WASTE

“Drowning in Waste” is a visual exploration of one of the most pressing environmental crises of our time—plastic pollution in our oceans. Each year, more than 8 million tons of plastic are dumped into the sea, suffocating marine ecosystems and endangering over 700 species of ocean life. From microplastics found in fish and seabirds to floating islands of debris the size of countries, the impact of human consumption has reached every corner of the ocean. It’s estimated that by 2050, there could be more plastic than fish by weight, a statistic that reflects how deeply our waste has infiltrated the natural world.

Through the media I have created for this project, I aim to bring these alarming realities to life—using visual storytelling to communicate the scale, emotion, and urgency behind the data. My work combines design, photography, and digital art to portray the ocean not just as a victim of pollution, but as a reflection of our collective choices. “Drowning in Waste” is meant to provoke awareness and empathy, encouraging viewers to reconsider their relationship with disposable materials and take action toward a cleaner, more sustainable future for our planet’s waters.
